Scrambler Therapy South Jersey
Neuropathy is a disorder of the nervous system in which the nerves that connect the spinal cord to other regions of the body become damaged. Liebman Wellness Center is proud to offer an advanced therapy called Scrambler Therapy with the Calmare® device to reduce or eliminate neuropathic pain and symptoms.
Many of our patients have complained about not finding relief from their condition and the endless use of prescription drugs producing alternative results compared to the intended pain relief. When a person is suffering from neuropathy in their legs or arms, most insurance companies will offer strict prescription drug treatments as the standard for neuropathy relief. However, at Liebman Wellness Center we believe that treating the underlying cause of neuropathy will produce lasting results instead of merely masking the symptoms with medication.
Benefits Of Scrambler Therapy
Scrambler Therapy has received FDA clearance in the United States for treating chronic and acute pain associated with neuropathy. It provides a non-invasive approach to chronic pain relief with no side effects and may lower medical costs over time.
Scrambler Therapy can continually help patients find pain relief, particularly those suffering from:
- Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN)
- Complex regional pain syndrome
- Reflex sympathetic dystrophy
- Post-surgical neuropathic pain
- Post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN)
- Phantom limb syndrome
- Sciatica
According to Dr. Charles Loprinzi, “clinical trial data that asked patients, daily while they were receiving two weeks of out-patient therapy and then weekly for ten weeks of follow-up, whether they would recommend this treatment to others. Approximately 80% of the replies noted that they would recommend it” (healio.com, 2016).
How Scrambler Therapy Works
The Calmare® device uses small electrodes carefully placed on the skin around the area where the patient is experiencing pain. The Calmare® device sends brief, mild electrical signals through the body to the brain. These electrical signals “scramble” the message to the brain that tells it that there is a pain in a particular region of the body, then the signals change the message to the brain, basically telling it that there is no pain. What is happening here is that the Calmare® device is sending low doses of stimulation to the nerves, which produces the “no pain” message, and that is when pain relief begins. The beauty of receiving treatment using the Calmare® is that the device avoids the harmful, potentially fatal, adverse side effects and addictive properties linked to narcotic painkillers.
